APAL - Agence de Protection et d’Aménagement du Littoral

APAL (Coastal Protection and Planning Agency) is a public utility of a non administrative character under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. It was created on 24 July 1995.

The main mission assigned to APAL in pursuance of its establishment law are as follows:
• management of the public maritime domain;
• settlement of the land property situation;
• existing prior to the establishment of the agency, in accordance with the legislation in force;
• management of coastline spaces for the implementation, monitoring and control of planning and protection operations;
• conducting evaluation and research studies related to protection of the coastline and development of natural zones and sensitive zones;
• setting up a coastal ecosystems observatory;
• rehabilitation and management of natural coastal zones and sensitive zones: wetlands, coastal forests, islands, etc.
