Conservatoria delle Coste, as benificiary partner, is developing Action 3.1 “Réalisation du réseau local des musées de la mer et de la navigation des 4 iles mineures” (Creation of a network of local sea and navigation museums in the four smaller islands). This is part of Sub-Project B “Valorisations des Patrimoines Communs”, coordinated by the Sardinian Region Direzione Generale degli Enti Locali e Finanze.
The project aims to enhance the cultural-historical maritime heritage of the 4 smaller Sardinian islands, with the object of reawakening interest in the world of sea and navigation – a theme that is still not widely addressed.
The macro activities, being undertaken by Conservatoria thanks to the support of the Local Authorities involved, are:
- installing the permanent exhibition of the Bisso Museum, in the Monte Granatico of the Municipality of Sant’Antioco;
- The creation of a network of four sea culture and navigation museums in the four smaller Sardinian islands: the Museo del Mare (Sea Museum) located in the blockhouse Carlo Emanuele III, Municipality of Carloforte (San Pietro Island); the Museo del Bisso (Bisso Museum) in Monte Granatico, Municipality of Sant'Antioco Comune (San’Antioco Island); the Centro del Mare (Sea Centre) in Cala Reale, Municipality of Porto Torres (Asinara Island); the Museo del Mare e delle tradizioni marinaresche (Museum of the Sea and Marine Traditions) in the Municipality of La Maddalena (Caprera Island, La Maddalena archipelago). For the creation of the network, the involved municipalities will collaborate to curate a multimedia exhibition within their own museums, and to create a digital network of the four museums to spread awareness of Sardinian sea culture and systems of navigation.
