CAMP Coastal Public notice
Conservatoria delle coste has published a public notice to finance works aimed at safeguarding and repurposing the natural and environmental sandy coastline resources which are at risk of being compromised or degraded. The public notice implements the Sardinian CAMP Programme objectives and specifically aims to choose the management strategies best suited to mitigating impacts and protecting the beach and dune systems in 2 programme areas:
• CAMP West, from Grotta Azzurra (Buggerru) to Pittinuri Tower (Cuglieri). This area covers the Municipalities of Buggerru, Fluminimaggiore, Arbus, Guspini, Terralba, Arborea, Santa Giusta, Oristano, Cabras, Riola Sardo, San Vero Milis, Narbolia and Cuglieri.
• CAMP North, from Punta Galera (Alghero) to Isola Rossa (Trinità d’Agultu). This area includes the Municipalities of Alghero, Sassari, Stintino, Porto Torres, Sorso, Castelsardo, Valledoria, Badesi and Trinità d'Agultu.
The following groups may propose works and access funds:
• Coastal Municipalities in the 2 programme areas;
• Local bodies from within the 2 areas and which submit proposals in partnership, under special or other agreement, for periods of at least 10 years;
• Alliances of Municipalities offering proposals to work on the coast within the 2 areas.
Each proposal must make reference to one or more of the following intervention types:
• Systemising and organising the road network to limit parking on beaches, dunes and the backs of dunes;
• Organisation and creation of beach access routes and works for basic beach services;
• Beach cleaning.
The financial resources made available amount to 650 thousand Euros, with the expectation that individual Municipalities contribute up to 90 thousand Euros, while proposals from alliances of Municipalities provide 120 thousand Euros.
14 project proposals were presented and ranked, and the first 7 were financed. The following bodies were financial beneficiaries: the Municipalities of San Vero Milis, Trinità d’Agultu, Arbus, Cabras, Alghero and Sorso, and the “Metalla e il Mare” (metal and sea) alliance of Municipalities.
